HOW TO APPLY FOR REBATES

How to apply for rebates

At GAHP Solutions, we want to help you take advantage of FortisBC rebate programs. To ensure you meet the eligibility criteria, please keep the following requirements in mind:

1. To qualify, you must be a FortisBC natural gas customer under any rate class except Rate

2. You must be the owner or long-term leaseholder of an existing commercial or industrial building to be eligible for the rebate.

3. The gas absorption heat pump must be installed for a retrofit application to qualify for the rebate.

4. The building must have dedicated outdoor space, either on the ground level or rooftop, to house the gas absorption heat pump unit(s).

5. Be sure to submit an application and supporting documentation within 365 days after the purchase date of the product(s) (as shown on the paid invoice) or installation date (as listed on the application form), whichever is first.

If you meet the above criteria and want to handle the FortisBC rebate application yourself, we have outlined the process below.

Please keep the following steps in mind:

1. Work with the engineering consultant of your choice to develop a feasibility study proposal for a gas absorption heat pump for your building or facility, including the information outlined above, and submit the proposal to FortisBC for review. If approved, you can proceed with the full feasibility study.

2. Submit the completed feasibility study and the paid invoice from your consultant to FortisBC to receive feasibility study funding.

3. Before purchasing a gas absorption heat pump, ensure it is eligible for the rebate. If you have any questions about the equipment or process, feel free to get in touch and we’d be happy to answer your questions.

4. Hire a gas or mechanical contractor licensed with Technical Safety BC to install your heat pump system. You can find one through FortisBC’s Trade Ally Network.

 5. Complete a gas absorption heat pump rebate application within 365 days of the purchase date (as shown on the paid invoice) or installation date (as listed on the application form), whichever is first. Be sure to provide copies of the fully paid invoice, including the make and model number of the eligible heat pump(s) purchased and installed.
